Disney and Lenovo are teaming up to develop an augmented reality experience based on various aspects of the Star Wars universe.

Here is the first trailer for Star Wars: Jedi Challenges:

News is still coming in regarding what exactly this project is, but early reports indicate that Lenovo is heading the production of an augmented reality headset that will be required to play the game. Specifically, you will need to download the game app to your smartphone and slide your phone into the headset in order to experience the game. There is no word regarding plans for this game to work with any other VR headset or AR device.
As for the game itself, Jedi Challenges appears to be a collection of minigames. It will allow players to do things like play a game of holo chess (made famous by A New Hope), shoot down AT-ATs and, of course, enjoy a good lightsaber fight.
Based on the description giving during Jedi Challenges' brief stage time at the D3 Expo, it seems that the intent is for this game to utilize an AR system similar to the one we saw in Pokemon GO. That means that the headset will modify your existing environment by adding in-game assets to it that can be interacted with in various ways.
Unfortunately, there is still quite a bit about Jedi Challenges that remains unknown. Based on some of the language used during the title's presentation, it seems that this might only be the first of several such projects that Disney intends to release for this device. That being the case, we're eager to learn more about how this is all going to work.

Disney has unveiled a new VR game based on the Marvel universe called Marvel Powers United VR.

Marvel Powers United VR is an Oculus Rift exclusive game that allows multiple players to assume the role of various Marvel heroes and team up to do battle against goons and more capable Marvel villains. While the game's first trailer only showcased battles against thugs and bots, Disney indicated that the final game will feature famous villains from Marvel comics.
As for the game's heroes, the trailer featured The Incredible Hulk, Rocket Racoon, and Captain Marvel, but it stands to reason that the final version of the game will feature a much larger roster of playable heroes. The inclusion of Captain Marvel is particularly interesting as it suggests that heroes not included in the Marvel cinematic universe - at least not yet - might make an appearance in the game.
Powers United's actual gameplay looks to be pretty standard fare so far as VR action titles go. Players will traverse various worlds via a first-person perspective and use the Rift's motion controllers to independently operate weapons and powers assigned to both hands. The trailer indicates that there will be an "arcade-like" component to the action that keeps track of player's kill streaks and similar statistics.
Interestingly, it also seems like players will have access to special abilities unique to the character they are playing. The example of this show during the trailer involved the player controlling The Incredible Hulk performing a fist slam motion which was echoed by his virtual avatar.
Marvel Powers United VR will be released sometime in 2018.

Street Fighter’s been part of video game culture—hell, pop culture—since...well, the second game. Nobody ever cared about the first game. Kind of sad, really. Capcom’s series has been reinvented many times over the last 29 years. With so many sequels and rehashes, the iconic cast of characters have clashed with the Marvel superheroes and even their SNK and Namco fighting game counterparts. They’ve had movies, animated adventures, lots of comics, and a really cool web series.

The Evolution Championship Tournament 2017 was a fun time and the third day gave us some interesting announcements. Trunks was announced for Dragon Ball FighterZ. Jedah was confirmed for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. Akira showed off a new fighting game featuring their characters from Street Fighter EX. A tag-team crossover game was announced, featuring characters from BlazBluePersona, and RWBY. But the coolest piece of news came in regards to Tekken 7.

Geese Howard originated in Fatal Fury, all the way back in 1991. As the main villain of the series, Geese went on to appear in its prequel Art of Fighting 2 and the big spinoff King of Fighters. His most recent appearance was in King of Fighters XIV, captaining a team with his underlings Billy Kane and Hein.
Similar to Heihachi Mishima, Geese is a big-pants-wearing martial artist who uses a strong public image to hide the fact that he’s actually a corrupt megalomaniac. Also much like Heihachi, Geese is very, very hard to kill, having survived falling off a skyscraper.
While Geese has shown up in several Capcom/SNK crossovers as M. Bison’s counterpart, this is his first time having anything to do with Tekken and its universe. Coincidentally, fellow Fatal Fury/King of Fighters mainstay Mai Shiranui appeared as a guest character in Dead or Alive 5. Makes sense, since Dead or Alive is about big boobs and Tekken is about jerk dads.
This will likely not be the last guest character to show up in Tekken 7. Word on the street is that someone hacked into the game and saw evidence that they’re planning on putting a Guilty Gear character in there with all of their bells and whistles. Fingers crossed that it’s Slayer if true. At least he’d be alive during the Tekken era.

Dragon Ball Z Release Date

Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to release sometime in early 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A closed beta will be available sometime in the summer for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Dragon Ball Z Trailers

How many Dragon Ball Z fighting games does it take to get to the center of why Dragon Ball Z fighting games somehow feel like gaming's longest running genre? The world may never know.
Nevertheless, there is a new Dragon Ball Z fighting game on the way and it features a few aspects which put it quite a bit ahead of the pack in terms of general intrigue. Here is the debut trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ:
There are two things you need to know about Dragon Ball FighterZregardless of whether or not you consider yourself to be a fan of the series or not. First off, this is a 2D fighting game with 3D character models and a 3D fighter like recent Dragon Ball combat games. While you may think that might detract from this game's ability to recreate the absolutely wild battles the anime series if famous for, the game's first trailer shows that this may just be the most over-the-top Dragon Ball fighting game yet.
Of course, its possible status as such makes more sense when you consider that this game is being developed by Arc System Works. Yes, the studio behind the incredible Guilty Gear fighting series will be helming the newest Dragon Ball fighting game. In terms of studios best equipped to tackle such a project, there are few developers in the world with the pedigree and talent that Arc System Works can boast.
The game itself will also utilize a 3 vs. 3 team-based battle system. As such, we expect that the final release will boast quite the sizeable roster of Dragon Ball characters as well as quite a few intriguing team possibilities. Some early footage shown from the game's demo also suggests that Arc System Works focused on ensuring that each character's move set is both unique and true to their role in this world.

It's possible that younger generations of gamers have completely forgotten the name "Atari," but in the 70s and early 80s, it was the company to beat. A true pioneer of gaming, Atari was at the forefront of the arcade cabinet scene and produced some of the earliest home consoles on the market. The company is also responsible for hits such as PongCentipedeMissile CommandBreakoutAsteroids, and Gauntlet. Needless to say, Atari's output as both a hardware and software manufacturer remains very influential.
Well, it seems like Atari CEO Fred Chesnais wants to make the former gaming giant a big part of the conversation again. Speaking with GamesBeat, he confirmed that the company is developing a brand new console.
“We’re back in the hardware business,” he told GamesBeat. He didn't go into many more details about the console beyond that. In fact, we don't know much more besides the fact that it will apparently run on "PC technology." Chesnais said that Atari is still working on the design and will reveal the console at a later date.
Here's everything we know about the new console:

Ataribox News

Atari finally showcased the Ataribox's actual design and shared a few details regarding what the console actually does.
The manufacturer stated that they plan on releasing two versions of the Ataribox, one that resembles the original console's classic wood panel design and a more modern red and black edition, but each one will function exactly the same.

As for what that functionality actually is...well, there is some room for debate. there. In an email, Atari revealed that they intend to "create something new, that stays true to our heritage while appealing to both old and new fans of Atari.” As such, the Ataribox will be able to play both classic and modern titles. Given that the console ships with multiple HDMI ports and SD card slots, it seems likely that players will be able to upload classic and modern (most likely Android or Atari published titles) games to the system themselves.
However, it's still not clear whether or not the Ataribox will ship with preloaded games or how gamers will be able to access additional titles beyond any games it may ship with. Atari stated that they are remaining intentionally vague regarding certain Ataribox details as they want to make sure they have time to get everything right and wish to have time to make adjustments based on consumer feedback. As such, we hope to know more soon.

Ataribox Release Date

Atari has not disclosed the release date for the Ataribox at this time. However, they have stated that the device is coming soon.
